Not long into my hike, perhaps 10 minutes at the most, I saw a disturbance in the water on the edge of the canal. I got my camera up just in time.....Peek-a-boo!
This little guy simply couldn't make out what I was and just stared at me for what seemed like a few minutes. I got several nice shots. I never get tired of seeing mink. I still remember the first one I ever say, the first one I photographed, and an amazing moment seeing one take down a muskrat on the ice (didn't have my camera).
Well, since my blood was pumping, I returned to a site where I have been seeing a least weasel and haven't been able to get him on camera. I set up with the tripod and waited, and waited, and waited. I just happened to glance down the canal path after awhile and soon realized that I was being watched.
Nothing special about the picture. I wish I could have gotten closer, so I decided to head down that way after the coyote trotted off. When I got down to the area where I spotted him, I noticed something in the water.
The rabbit was lying right there on the water's edge and I can only assume that the coyote was headed for this dead rabbit until he saw me sitting on the path. Interesting day so far. The fog has let up and the sun is shining bright, so I'm grabbing a quick bite to eat and heading back out. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
